Synthetic superheavy element. Named for Dubna, Russia. Element 105, Dubnium (Db), is a Transition Metal found in period 7, group 5. As a transition metal it commonly shows several oxidation states, forms coloured compounds, and is widely used in catalysts and alloys.
It has the configuration [Rn] 5f¹⁴ 6d³ 7s²; its 2 outer-shell electrons drive its bonding. Its physical state follows from its melting and boiling points; it has a density around 29.3 g/cm³.
