Overview
Named for the U.S. state of Tennessee. The second-heaviest known element. Element 117, Tennessine (Ts), is an Unknown found in period 7, group 17. Most of its properties still await further experimental confirmation.
It has the configuration [Rn] 5f¹⁴ 6d¹⁰ 7s² 7p⁵; its 7 outer-shell electrons drive its bonding. Under standard conditions it exists as a solid; it melts near 723 K (449.9 °C), boils near 883 K (609.9 °C), has a density around 7.2 g/cm³.
